BIOGRAPHY
Donald Frank Cheadle was born on November 29, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri, to a professor mother and a psychologist father. After residing in Denver and Nebraska in his youth, Don moved to Los Angeles where he studied acting at the California Institute of Arts. Buoyed by the support of his friends, Don began participating in numerous auditions, until landing a role in the television series Fame , which would eventually lead to his film debut in John Irvin’s war film Hamburger Hill (1987). . During the 1990s, Cheadle frequently appeared in television series such as Golden Palace (1992) and Picket Fences (1993). By 1995, being a recognized actor, Don participated in the film Devil in a Blue Dress, which earned him recognition from specialized critics. From that film on, his career began to rise sharply, with films such as Volcano (1997), Boogie Nights (1997), Out of Sight (1998) and the television movie The Rat Pack (1998), where he received nominations such as best supporting actor at the Golden Globes and the Emmy Award. Later, he participated in well-known productions such as Family Man (2000), Traffic (2000), Swordfish (2001) and Ocean’s Eleven (2001). His long career was finally recognized at the Academy Awards, the Oscar, for the film Hotel Rwanda (2004), in addition to participating in the best film winner, Crash (2004). He would return to major productions with his participation in the films Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), in addition to replacing Terrence Howard, in the film Iron Man 2 (2010), in the role of Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes, which would be part of the Marvel cinematic universe, which he would repeat in the films Iron Man 3 (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Cheadle also starred in the popular HBO series, House of Lies (2012-2016), in addition to making his directorial debut in the Miles Davis biopic, Miles Ahead (2015). In 2021 he was nominated for the Golden Globes for his work in the television series Black Monday .
