Born as Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz, Jon Stewart is a prominent American personality who wears various hats as a comedian, producer, writer, actor, television host, and political commentator. He is best known for his roles on The Daily Show, which he hosted on Central Comedy from 1999 to 2015.

American comedian Stewart was born in New York, on November 28, 1962, to parents – Marian Leibowitz and Donald Leibowitz. His mother first worked as a teacher and later as an academic advisor while his father (professor) worked at Thomas Edison State College and the College of New Jersey as a physics professor.

Stewart was raised in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where he and his older brother Lawrence Stuart attended the prestigious Lawrence High School. The names of his two younger brothers are Matthew and Dan. Eleven years after his arrival, his parents could not follow each other; this led to cracks in their marriage. The couple later called it quits and went their separate ways. Stewart’s father became absent from his life after the divorce, which affected him greatly during his younger days.

Devastated by his father’s absence and the challenges that nearly brought him to his knees, Jon dropped his last name and took his middle name Stuart – in an effort to disassociate himself from his estranged father.

He made his standing debut in 1987 at New York-based nightclub and cafe The Bitter End, the club where Woody Allen (his main stand-up influence) also got his start. Stewart had previously made a mess of himself and his ambition at the Comedy Club Circuit in 1986 after refusing to take the stage due to the number of people in the club.

Although best known as Stewart’s wife, McShane is, by profession, an animal advocate and author. Her love for animals began after she came into contact with Farm Sanctuary. She went on to write a book called Do Unto Animals: A Friendly Guide to How Animals Live and How We Can Improve Their Lives.

Jon Stewart and then graphic designer Tracey first met on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. The perfect lovebirds started dating after the blind date. Four years later in 1999, the comedian proposed to Tracey to use a crossword. Their marriage took place a year later.
