Biography of Jordan Pickford
It was as Jordan Lee Pickford that the English goalkeeper was born on March 7, 1994 in the English city of Washington in Sunderland. Unlike many other children who grew up playing football because their parents had a penchant for the sport, the Everton stopper’s father was a builder while his mother was a housekeeper.
Although he loved football growing up, Jordan was also able to start his education at St Robert’s Catholic School in Newminster before later attending Sunderland Academy after he was apparently destined to play football.
It was in Sunderland that he grew up with an older brother, Richard Logan, in a household that was not wealthy. As he would later reveal, it was Richard who put him on the path to becoming a footballer.
club career
Number 1 Everton started as a young player with Sunderland in 2002 and stayed there until he was promoted to the senior team in 2011. Although he remained with the club until 2017 he spent most of his seasons on loan at clubs like Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion, Carlisle United, Bradford City and Preston North End.
It was after returning from Preston North End that he moved to Everton in a deal that saw him become the most expensive England goalkeeper of all time and the third most expensive goalkeeper in the world.
By the end of the 2017/2018 season, in which his club finished 8th in the standings, he had already played 38 games for the club.
Since joining the club, he has recorded a few accolades including the club’s Player of the Season, Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards throughout the 2017/2018 season.
National football career
The Everton goalkeeper made his first appearance for England as an Under-16 player in 2008. The following year he was in the England national colors playing with the Under-17 team, then the under-18s which he was part of until 2012 when he joined the under-19s.
In 2015, the star-studded keeper who could become one of England’s top goalkeepers started with the country’s Under-20 and later Under-21 side. However, it was until 2017 that he made his debut for the senior team.
Before being called up to play for the country in Russia, he had only played two games for England. In the tournament where the Three Lions finished in fourth place, he became England’s first choice goalkeeper.
Girlfriend
Pickford is not known to have dated a woman publicly in the past, with the exception of his girlfriend, Megan Davison. The two have been together for a very long time as they started dating when they were still teenagers.
The goalkeeper and Megan Davison who are 2 years old between them met in their home town of Sunderland and since then they have continued as a couple. While he now plays football for a living, his girlfriend is a college graduate.
Height, weight and body measurements
At the age of 8, when Jordan Pickford went to the academy, he was the tallest among others in the same age bracket. Interestingly, he has maintained his height even though he continues to grow, and that has come to help him as a goalkeeper. He is 1.85 m (6 ft 1 in) tall and weighs 77 kg (169.7 lb).
As for his general body measurements, that hasn’t been provided, but he’s quite slim and athletic.
